Toddler Talk…things a 2 1/2 year old might say

All of as sudden Payton knows every song imaginable and loves to sing all the time.  She went through a phase last week where all she wanted to sing was “Where is thumbkin…where is thumbkin?” Except her version went something like this:
P: Where is fu*#in, where is fu*#in?  Here I am, here I am…
Later that night, and the next night, and the next night…
P: Mama, sing me a song!  Sing to me “where is fu*#in”!
How do you keep a straight face to that?

Every Sunday we try to have a special picnic dinner on the living room floor and watch a movie together.  Pizza is a rare treat for Payton…this was last Sunday…
Mama: Payton-pie…special treat tonight, do you want pizza?
P: Pizza?  No!  Pizza and cookies, Mama.  Pizza and cookies.

Payton’s new nickname for Miles:
P: Good morning little dude!
P: Oh no Mama, he’s spitting up!  Little dude, no spitting!
P: I love you little dude.

Mama: Payton…you are slowly driving me crazy!
P: Yes Mama, I know.

We have nightmare construction going on our whole street and driveway right now until the first week of October.  Our driveway is now gravel with huge bulldozers and trucks parked all around day and night.  One morning I got Payton up and told her we were going to go to her friend, Georgia’s, in just a little bit.  I was changing Miles’ diaper and she went downstairs to look out the front window at all the noise (this was the morning they were jack hammering our driveway to remove all of the concrete).  She comes running back up the stairs crying…
P: Oh no Mama!  Oh no!  They are crackin!  They made a mess!  We can’t go to Georgia’s now..Mama (in between sobs) how can we go?  We can’t go now!
Then 2 minutes later when Payton was back at the window:
P: STOP it!  STOP crackin!  That is my dirt!  They are playing with my dirt!! Stop playing with my dirt!

About JulesJ

We have grown from a family of three to four! I am a full time wife and Mommy, and a part time Registered Nurse in a busy Medical Cardiac ICU. My hubby works at Microsoft...that is what brought us to Seattle. We have the most adorable little girl...born October of 2011. Plus we have a new little bundle of joy in our life, our little prince was born February of 2014. We live in Issaquah, WA, about 20 minutes east of Seattle...though we are true Texans at heart. I am just trying to capture those every day moments so we will have memories to last a lifetime.

  1. Such a cutie! Does she have a favorite pizza or cookie variety? She says the most adorable, intelligent things. 🙂

Oh, she is adorable. She would definitely be my daughter’s best friend as well, fellow pizza and cookie fanatics! 🙂 I really think two has to be about the best age ever!

It is amazing what the little ones can come up with. The workmen should leave her dirt alone. She is growing so fast and adorable as always. Love you PJ.

  4. Rhonda says:

She is going to be wittier and wiser than her teachers 🙂

My little guy is 2 1/2 also. They are so much fun, aren’t they? When they aren’t driving us crazy that is…
